Our Squirrel room teachers understand the value and importance of play – it is the key to learning.  For young children to develop fully, their bodies and minds need to be active; children learn by doing.

This classroom of 8 children benefits from a 1 to 4 ratio until the age of three. Our small class size allows for opportunities to let our older toddlers make many choices in their daily experiences. Teachers respond to the children’s ideas, following their lead while engaging in rich conversations. Supporting children’s play, teachers are close at hand to assist with problem solving skills as children begin to discover more about their world.

Self-help skills are routinely practiced with our older toddlers such as learning to take care of their own physical needs and beginning to identify and express their emotions in appropriate ways. Acquiring these pro-social skills provides a solid foundation for success in our preschool programs.
